The Fun day Approaches!
14 May 2007
The Clock is ticking......
The 2007 Foresters Fun Day will take place four weeks on Saturday, 9th June. This end of season jamboree is a great chance for the club to come together to celebrate the end of another season, receive some awards and medals and above all have some fun.
The year groups have now been split into the house teams in readiness for the inaugural Inter House Challenge Cup. Bonus points have already been awarded to the Under 8 players for their respective houses for coming up with innovative South American nicknames for all the players and coaches alike! Each House will be captained by the goal keepers from the Under 11's.
The teams will be posted on the web site shortly but in anticipation of a fun packed day full of challenge and competition I wanted to outline the sort of exciting things we will be doing.
The Inter House Challenge Cup
Santos, Boca Juniors, Corinthians and River Plate will compete in 4 challenges:
The Matches
Boca Juniors v River Plate
Corinthians v Santos
Boca Juniors v Corinthians
Santos v River Plate
Corinthians v River Plate
Santos v Boca Juniors
Each match will be of 7 minutes duration (no half time). 1 House point for every goal scored, 10 bonus house points will be awarded for a win, 5 each for a draw and 2 points for just turning up!
Each goalkeeper that keeps a clean sheet will win their team an additional 10 bonus house points.
At the end of the Matches each year group and their supporters will be invited to the Presentation Marquee to take part in the annual awards and medals presentations. (No long winded speeches from the Chairman....just a chance for your coaches to say a few words and make some presentations)
Penalty Shoot-Out Challenge
The traditional player versus keeper challenge! Each player will get 5 attempts to beat the keeper from the penalty spot. For each successful goal scored that player will earn their house 10 points. If all 5 are scored then a bonus of 50 additional House points can be claimed.
Cross Bar Challenge
Each player will get 5 attempts to hit the cross bar from the penalty spot. For each successful “HIT” scored that player will earn their house 10 points. If all 5 attempts result in a “HIT” then a bonus of 50 additional House points can be claimed.
Dribble Relay Challenge
Each House will race against each other in relay to successfully dribble a ball through a pre set course and return to the start line to tag the next runner. The team that wins the race will earn 100 house points, 75 for 2nd place, 50 for third and 25 for fourth.
All of the challenges will take place at a pre-determined time which will be published in a program of events on the day. In between the challenges there will be plenty of other activities and stalls to enjoy including some old favourites:
The bottle stall
Sweet Stall
Bouncy Castle
Soak the coach
Tug of war
Coconut Shy
Netball Challenge
Penalty shoot out
BBQ
Cake Stall
Ice Cream Van
Beer Tent
We are hoping the Fire Brigade will be on hand to offer a car wash service and that the TA will bring a selection of military vehicles to display.
The day will start at 9.30 am with the first matches and challenges kicking off at 10am. The day will conclude with the presentation of the Inter House Challenge Cup to the Captain of the winning house at 4pm.
Whilst the Inter House Challenge Cup is being contended between the Development Squad through to the Under 11's the Fun Day is open to all. So if you play for the Under 12's and upwards then please come down to Bayham on 9th June and cheer on the teams!
Please watch this space for more news about the Fun day and how you can get involved to help make it the best yet!
