"Fair Play" to the Under 7's!

18 Jun 2007

Langton Feista 2007 - Under 7 report

On a lovely sunny afternoon nine very excited boys turned up to represent Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 7s. This was the first time the boys had played together which was evident in the first couple of  matches!.

The boys still managed a conformable 1-0 win in the first game but lost the second 2-0, this was possibly the best thing that could have happened as they then started to listen and realised they had to play as a team and from that point on we saw them play some excellent football.

By the third match they where flying, looking up, passing and scoring plenty of goals....... In one match we saw a 4 pass move end in a tap in goal, just the way we want to see our teams play the beautiful game.

After comfortably winning our group we faced a strong Otford side in the semi final, I felt we had more possession and looked like we were the team that was going to go on and score but as we know football is sometimes a cruel game and with seconds left Otfords defence cleared the ball from our corner and scored the only goal. Otford went on to win the final by the same score line.

The boys then collected their well earned fairplay trophy to round off  a great afternoon. Many thanks to all the boys parents, families and friends for the encouragement and support you showed them, as an explayer I know what a difference this makes. Thanks to the players who put everything into the day and made it a privilege to be associated with.

The squad was W.Hardwick, T.Talbot, O.Bone, H.Grice, T.Blackburn, S.Wolf, J.Smith, A.Davis, J.Pickett.
