Tunbridge Wells Foresters Under 8 (3) v Redhill Albion (0)
The U8’s were away to Redhill this weekend and we knew it would be a hard game as Redhill have had the same results as us and our first meeting had ended one all.
The game started fast with both team attacking and defending well but after 10 minutes Foresters were clearly the stronger team with more passing and shots at goal. William came on as sub and straight away made an impact with a great timed run and shot nearly ending up with our first goal.
The ref (who was excellent) gave Foresters a free kick about 10 yards outside the Redhill box. Oliver Shine stepped up to take the kick and provided a beautifully placed ball in to the Redhill penalty area which Jarod controlled well with his first touch, turning and shooting; a great goal!.Redhill came back at us, but we defended well and got the ball clear. The ball ended up with Toby who then went for goal. With two Redhill players chasing him Toby ran the length of the pitch and held his nerve to score with his left. This was especially nice to see as in training we had been practising shooting with our weakest foot. The first half finished 2 nil.
Second half
Both teams again came out fighting for every ball. The Foresters lads started to talk more which then lead to more passing. Most of our attacks started with Jake (our goalie) rolling the ball out quickly to either Tyler or Harry who then attacked up the wings. One of these attacked ended up with our third goal. Jake had made a save and Tyler straight away ran out wide to receive the ball from Jake. Tyler then dribbled the ball passed one player, looked up and passed to Toby. Toby then ran with the ball towards their goal and again with another quick look up he passed the ball to William who then attacked the goal and scored.
It was by far the best performance I have seen this season. Our defence of Tyler and Harrison (Harrison did not stop all game his tackling and control with the ball is outstanding) do not let much get by them, Midfielders Oliver and Alfie with some good talking by both provided great awareness of other players, Strikers William, Toby and Jarod showed great reactions and good skills on the ball, Finally, with the team in front of Jake our goalkeeper there is not much to do but when he is needed I am just glad that he is there!
Well done lads a great result
