Tandridge Squad win a 2nd tournament
Foresters Under 11's Tandridge squad enjoyed their second tournament win for The Shield in the Ridgeway Football Tournament on Saturday morning.
The day got off to a worrying start when one of the team's players went home ill and the team were left with no subs.
The first game in the group stages was against East Grinstead where Foresters looked like they were half a sleep and lost the first game due to a tired performance by all. The second game Foresters woke up and put on an excellent show of football against Ridgeway A team. Although Ridgeway beat Foresters 2-0, the Foresters team performance could not be faulted in any way. As the morning went on Foresters played stronger and beat Tonbridge and Maidstone leading them into the quarter finals of the shield cup.. This started with a game against Tonbridge A (a repeat of the Pembury tournament) which Foresters won 3-1. Jarvis Brook were next on the list and Foresters again put in a strong performance and won 3-1. This took the boys into the final against Tonbridge Invicta which saw the Foresters team looking to be the stronger side, and had opportunities to score, but due to some outstanding Goal Keeping from the Invicta Keeper, nothing got through him. We then had 4 minutes extra time which still resulted in no score which led to the dreaded penalties. Foresters remained positive and strong and due to some excellent saves by Goal Keeper Harry Kemp Foresters won the final with 3 out of four penalties and Tonbridge scoring 2. The last successful penalty being taken by Goal Keeper Harry Kemp who then went on to save Tonbridge's penalty.
Congratulations to the boys for their second tournament win of the season,
The team; Harry Kemp, Oliver Vidler, Elliott Barton, Chris Hutchins, Robbie Bissett and Charlie Simpson.
