A new Chairman
11 Jul 2008
As previously reported our incumbent, Peter Robinson, stepped down from the role. Along with Peter, Jon Stedman, the Vice Chairman also stepped down. Jon’s wife, Liz will also be stepping down as CWO (Child Welfare Officer) and will be replaced by Carol Snowball once all relevant checks have been made. Alan Kibbey continues as Club Secretary and Barrie Pickett continues as Director of Football.
Our new Chairman, Andy Smith, was voted in uncontested, the Vice Chairman role was contested between Martin Adams (AKA Paddy) and Paul Beard with Paddy taking the vote 18 to 9. The Treasurers role was uncontested and will be undertaken by Peter Robinson.
Andy Smith said;
“I would like to thank Peter for his enormous effort and support to the club over the years. It is great that Peter continues to be involved in Club matters as Treasurer and his steady guiding approach and local contacts will be instrumental while the club continues in its quest for change.
We are in an exceptionally strong position moving forward and this has to be accredited to Peter’s team and the way in which they have guided the club forward. This mentality and momentum must continue if we are to achieve our goal of securing a permanent home for Foresters FC. It is quite fitting that we should have such impetus and desire in our 25th successful year.
I also welcome the much needed input from Paddy and I know that his strong business acumen and links will be pivotal in the coming years when attempting to garner support from local businesses to become our future strategic partners. This effort coupled with the sound footballing minds of Alan, Barrie and Peter will hold the club in good stead moving forward.
I hope I can be the type of Chairman you expect. I am enormously proud to be in such a position and I will endeavour to deliver my best to you and the club to ensure we continue to foster a true club spirit and provide football for all, at all levels.
