Perfection denied!
GIRLS UNDER 12s LEAGUE MATCH
At Paddock Wood
SATURDAY 27th OCTOBER 2007
Tunbridge Wells Foresters 0 Paddock Wood 2
Two second half goals in 5 minutes from Paddock Wood saw Foresters crash to their first ever league defeat since inception 15 months ago! The perfect 100% record finally ended in a scrappy five minutes which saw Paddock Wood sneak two simple goals.
The first half started positive enough, and it was apparent from the kick off that we were playing a different team to the one we beat 13 – 0 in a friendly last season. Paddock Wood were well organised in defence and easily cleared their lines.
After a couple of chances at either end it was clear that it wasn’t going to be easy for a relatively inexperienced Foresters team.
In the second half Paddock Wood did most of the running and Foresters at times looked a little slow to react. A very good tactical system paid dividends when three Paddock Wood girls were through on goal, against two Foresters defenders. A scrappy first goal was followed by another just moments later and no matter all our efforts we could not get anything from the fixture.
Defeat isn’t as good as a win, but credit to Paddock Wood who played very well, and credit to our girls that didn’t let their heads drop until the final whistle. We will have a chance for revenge, but for now we still prop the table up on goal difference.
The next Under 12s match is away at Southdown AFC, Burgess Hill, on Saturday 24th November.
