Girls Team Newsletter – Season 07/08 20th December 2007
Dear All,
It’s quarterly newsletter time, and as the year comes to a close, the first half of the season is over and what a first half it’s been!
Unfortunately the weather has once again interrupted what was turning out to be a smooth flowing season, and I expect we have a lot worse to look forward to in the New Year!
That aside we have a busy schedule for the second half of the season and The Crowborough League have now introduced a knock-out cup competition starting in February. Full details of the league and cup games to come will be sent out during the first week of 2008.
First-half Season Review
Below is a quick review of the first half league teams:
Under 11s
6 League Matches Played – 5 Wins & 1 Draw
Goals Scored – 42
Goals Conceded - 4
That’s an average of 7 goals per game!
Top of the League table, the only undefeated team in the league! An excellent achievement with a total of 30 goals between Harriet & Millie alone, we are definitely on course to win the league with some remarkable results, and thoroughly enjoyable matches.
Under 12s
5 League Matches Played
3 Wins & 2 Losses
Goals Scored 11
Goals Conceded 11
An average of 2.2 goals per game.
2nd in the League - It’s been a tough league to play in as we only have 3 Under 12 players, however saying that we have competed well and are in a strong position to move into 1st place in the second half of the season.
Summary
Firstly the other coaches and I would like to express our thanks and gratitude to all the girls for working so hard at their football. We have tried to make fair choices when selecting teams, and for those girls who have not played in a league match yet, you will get your chance in the New Year!
Thank you to all the parents for your support and assistance at matches and training sessions. Please remember that we need as much help as we can and it is greatly appreciated when received.
I am proud to be associated with this highly talented, friendly and committed girl’s team that we are building here at Foresters and I hope that everyone is enjoying this experience as much as me.
We still need to get a few more players into the squad as we look to build and plan for the 2008/09 Season. If you know anyone who would like to play, please give them my details and I will be happy to speak with them.
Finally, it just remains for me to say a very Merry Christmas to everyone, and here’s to a successful and Happy 2008!
Kind regards
Mark
