Girls Squad Newsletter 08/09

1 Sep 2008

The new season arrives full of promise....

Dear All,

Welcome back and here we go again! – its a new season and a fresh start for the Girl’s Squad this year. Let’s see if we can follow on from our success last season.

I would appreciate if everyone could read this newsletter, as hopefully it will provide you with all the information needed for the coming season.

Last Season Review

Just a quick summary of our successes last season;

  • Under 11’s Cup Winners beating Hastings Hawks 3-1 in the final at Rusthall

  • Under 11’s League Runners Up (unofficially!)

  • 3rd in Under 12s League

  • 12 out of 15 competitive matches won

  • Under 11s League & Cup - 74 goals scored and only 18 conceded

  • Under 12s League & Cup – 37 goals scored and 24 conceded

Well done to all the players for last season’s efforts – we had some fantastic results, some nail biting moments and you all should be proud of what we achieved as a team.

Home Ground

Firstly, to confirm, we will officially be playing all of our home league matches and all training sessions on Saturdays between 09.20 and 11.30, at Bayham Playing Fields. A full size mini-soccer pitch will be marked out along with a smaller training pitch, as was last year.

Snacks

All parents are reminded to ensure that their daughter brings a drink (non-fizzy) and snack (preferably cereal bar/biscuit & or fruit (not crisps and chocolate bars)).

League Set-Up

The squad this season is to be split into two competitive outfits. We have registered an Under 11’s & Under 12’s team in the Crowborough & District League. These teams play respective weeks therefore, no Under 11 & Under 12 match will clash on the same Saturday.

I will send an e-mail every week, by Wednesday, to confirm what is happening for the coming week. However, basically I will select a team of 9/10 players each week to play a league match. Please remember that I can only play registered players.

Please can everyone let me know if your daughter will not be attending, along with giving me forward dates of unavailability so I can plan the matches and training sessions accordingly?

Fees & Subs

To clarify fees and subs which most of you have completed – the club charges a £20 annual membership fee for registration. We are reintroducing ‘Weekly’ subs this season as we feel it is the fairest way to pay.

Therefore for each week you come along, please can you bring £3.00 in cash. Someone will be allocated to collect the subs each week, and to help us not to be chasing people, please can you make sure you pay before the session starts. The subs are also due if your daughter is playing in a league or cup match.

Tea Rota

Please note that as we are back at Bayham, the Girl’s squad will be included onto the tea hut rota. I do not have dates at the moment but will advise in due course.

We are expected to:

1. Set the tea hut up, which means getting the urn, Foresters Merchandise, tea and coffee stuff out of the container. Filling and turning on the urn and displaying the merchandise.

2. Serve tea and coffee and sell merchandise.

3. Clean up the tea hut and put all stuff neatly back into the container.

PLEASE CAN I HAVE VOLUNTEERS TO HELP OUT HERE!!

Code of Conduct

One point I wish to highlight to everyone is the player’s conduct at the training sessions and matches. We are there to train to play football and the coaches and myself should not have to be dealing with any form of bad behaviour or disruptiveness. I will be sending out the Club’s Code of Conduct for Players and Parents with this newsletter – please read through this.

It is important to understand that we are here to develop the girl’s squad, develop their abilities (as a team and as individuals) and to ensure they enjoy and get the most out of their football. We cannot have our attention taken away by girls that do not want to train or play. We have sufficient breaks throughout each session to ‘unwind’ so all girls should be focused when we are running through training exercises and or playing a match.

This season we are going to hand out ‘awards’ on a weekly basis and monthly basis for the player that applies themselves to the training and the matches. I personally feel this is important if we are to move forward and build on the successes of last season.

I hope I have covered everything here, but if you have any further questions or comments then contact details for your information are as follows:

I will also be publishing news, match updates and events on the girl’s section of the Foresters website which you can find at:

To finish, I am highly confident that we are going to have another fantastic season. The main thing we must remember is that at the end of the day the players, coaches and parents go out each week and enjoy themselves. Let’s make the season fun again!

Kind regards
