Under 12s Girls Match Report

18 Oct 2008

An exhilarating win the Cup!

The cup is our strongest link in the Crowborough League, as we have won it in back to back years, and a third successive win became a little more closer with an emphatic destruction of Broad Oak & Horam in the Quarter Final match today at Bayham.

After a superb start and countless attempts on goal and corners, that were too many to count, we final brokedown the defence with a quality shot from Hannah Lautch on the edge of the box.

Somehow, shockingly a slight error was made at the back five minutes later and it was 1-1! However the girls retained their composure until half-time with some more fantastic passing football, unfortunately not rewarded with goals.  It could have been 6 or 7-1 at half time alone!

The second half seemed to see a kick start to Foresters and they came out fighting and within a few minutes we were 2-1 up with a quality goal scored by Hannah for her second of the day.  Again, after a small lapse of concentration in defence, Broad Oak sneaked through and lashed home a quality second goal to take the game into a 2-2 tie.

This only seemed to perk up the girls who were awarded a penalty after a hand ball in the Broad Oak box.  Phoebe D'albertanson smashed home the 3rd goal with an unbelievable shot - a 'how to' of taking penalties and after that Hannah added another 2 to make a record 4 goals in one match and Gemma Rathmell with a sixth to add to our impressive tally.

We owned this match and the girls played out of their skins in the second half - whoever we meet in the Semi-Final had better watch out!

Well done to all the girls.
