U10 Tandridge Squads

Foresters U10 win again

28 Sep 2008

Hamsey Rangers A 0 vs. Foresters 7

A difficult game to plan as Hamsey A had beaten a good Foresters side back in January in the Cup however they lost to Tonbridge the previous week 11-1!

Going into the game without Luke and William, Dean again stepped up to take responsibility. No subs is not a good point to start from but Foresters never let that worry them.

The game started brightly enough and in fairness echoed a lot about last season with the team enjoying a lion’s share of possession but failing to put the chances home. Attack after attack ended with the ball falling short or the effort going high or wide. However some great corners signalled the player’s intentions and a great chance from a spirited captain; Joe Brisley, just fell wide of the goal. Further chances from Liam’s corners found Josh’s head on several occasions and his efforts were cruelly wide or high. Soon after, another corner, and Liam managed to score (albeit with a slight touch from the keeper) directly from the corner. The goal certainly helped to settle nerves and it wasn’t long before Foresters found their passing game and more opportunities beckoned. Shortly before the close of play a free kick was won by some great midfield play from Josh. The ensuing free kick was pummelled by Liam straight into the net for his second.

Half time was well received and while no changes were made the boys came out with the spirits high. Soon after the break Sollie latched on to the ball and sent it flying into the goal. Another Liam pile driver found the net along with a deflected effort too. Liam’s corner taking worked well and a further 2 goals were added with superb heading from Josh and Miller.

At the final whistle the boys were able to relax and reflect on their game. Foresters did not play their best game in fairness and nerves seemed to play heavily for some reason. Defence was solid with Kieran, Joe and Dean working well and playing great football. Josh, Liam and Sollie again played strong intelligent football and Josh found some of his old form with a great all round performance. Miller again showed why he is a great striker and managed to keep Hamsey wondering all the time.

Well Played boys!

- while the score was 0-7 the referee omitted to count the right number of goals and therefore the result to Tandridge will show 6 and not 7. I am unable to take the goals from the players though -

Team: K Hounsell, J Brisley, D Card, S Cook, J Smith, L Edwards, M Grice, D Card

There are still 2 remaining places up for grabs in this team and the Manager is keen to see if there are other strong, like minded, committed players who would like to play on Sundays. Even if you play for another club on Saturday why not consider playing in a strong winning side on Sunday too? Interested? Speak to the Chairman, his details are found on the "contact us" page. Thanks
