Foresters U10

Pitiful conditions but a win makes us happy
Foresters 4 vs. Chipstead 0Awful conditions would do the day a favour! High wind, driving rain and 7 rain sodden players hardly constitutes the ideals for playing the “beautiful game”.
Foresters went into the match undefeated, having played 2 previous league matches. The game started brightly enough and Foresters marked their intentions with excellent passing and moving of the ball but failed to capitalise on their opportunities. Eventually the ball fell nicely to Liam who may have not placed the desired purchase on the ball but non-the less the ball found the net! The wind made it tricky when the ball was in the air and despite attempts to keep it low it tended to bobble too much. However another well worked move found Miller who again slotted passed the keeper. The half ended 2-0
As the second half got underway it seemed that Foresters and Chipstead were less enthusiastic with the game. Despite a lion’s share of possession and good passing and moving Foresters failed to nail an early goal in the second half. They continued well with their passing and eventually Josh found a lose ball near the touchline and duly slotted Foresters 3rd home. The 4th goal fell to Joshua “Razor” Finch who finally scored and hopefully will be the first of many for Foresters.
Both Razor and Willem had their first taste of league action and played well considering the conditions. Sollie, Josh and Liam were as ever, busy and working hard through midfield, Joe defended resolutely, as always, and was helped on his way with partnerships with Razor, Willem, Sollie and Miller. Kieran again was the safe hands in goal and did well with the chances that did fall to Chipstead.
Without sounding bigheaded Foresters were the far better team and the movement of the ball from defence to attack was great. Simple passing and moving was the key and perhaps the score line flattered Chipstead?
Well Played boys!
