U10's out of the cup

The old cliche "a match of two halfs" fits

Whyteleafe 2 vs. Foresters 1 - Cup

A bright sunny late morning kick off greeted Foresters in their away cup match held at Old Coulsdon Jets ground.

Foresters started brightly and held a lion’s share of possession. They worked the ball well and found time and space to play their game. After many skirmishes near the opposition goal a chance fell to Josh who duly despatched a well struck shot passed the Whyteleafe keeper. Foresters continued to attack and most efforts were thwarted by poor final ball, good goalkeeping and bad luck against the woodwork. None the less the half ended with Foresters rightly ahead.

Whatever Foresters had done in the first half to keep Whyteleafe at bay they managed to do the opposite in the second half. Foresters lost their shape, passing and above all their heads. Two well taken opportunities for Whyteleafe allowed them the opportunity to keep Foresters a good distance from their goal. Despite a few changes Foresters failed to regain their momentum and pose any threat to the Whyteleafe goal.

The result was disappointing only because of the way they had played in the first half and not allowing Whyteleafe the opportunity to play their game. The result was probably fair and on another day we may have achieved more.
