Fallen Angels?
Tonbridge Angels 2 vs. Foresters 5After a rain sodden week doubts were cast over the condition of the Angels pitch. Doubts were unfounded and the pitch, while heavy in places, was in great shape considering.
Angels started brightly and pegged Foresters back for the first 5 minutes with opportunities to break the deadlock going wide. Foresters held on resolutely and soon enough were able to find their feet and start to pass the ball around. Eventually the ball broke from centre midfield to Luke who moved on goal and in his own usual way unleashed an effort that was not likely to be saved. Despite their efforts Angels failed to out manoeuvre the Foresters defence and the ball again found Luke wide right who again needed no other invitation to score. 2-0! As the half wore on Foresters found more passing and more space but few good opportunities. A well defended attack led the Angels out of their half and they managed to split the Foresters defence and find the open net. 2-1! Despite their tails being held high from their goal Foresters continued to chip away and eventually the ball fell to Sollie who duly despatched another goal 3-1 at half time.
The second half started brightly but it was Angels who took the ascendancy and thumped a great effort in to the Foresters net. Kieran continued to make great saves but this was simply too good. However Foresters were not finished there, a great shot found the keeper saving the ball but a cruel rebound on to Luke’s knee had the ball in the net. In the final minutes of the game Razor chased the ball down and held on long enough to play Luke in for his 4th and the Teams 5th.
This was another great display from Foresters and slowly they show how strong their game can be. The score line flattered us slightly and the game was tough. Sollie and Joe again had an exceptionally strong display in defence, Josh along with Luke and Liam held midfield well despite good Angels moves to upset the balance, Razor and Miller too played well in attacking situations. Kieran, when called upon, did very well and as a team we are heading in the right direction.
Well Played boys!
