Foresters fall short
16 Nov 2008
But it was a tough fight for both teams
Ten Em Bee SDC 2 vs. Foresters 1Our first trip to the SDC in Bromley was a much awaited game. We had both played the same teams recently and we were using this as the form book.
The manager changed tack slightly and asked Josh to lie deeper assisting the 2 defenders. This was perhaps an error as it led to confusion among the players at the back and in midfield. While TEB pressured Foresters were able to withstand their efforts until a ball fell kindly and they managed to open their account. The manager then reverted back to the normal formation and Foresters began to find their rhythm. A couple of goalmouth scrambles failed to materialise into a goal. However a loose ball did find Josh who duly volleyed the effort passed the TEB keeper into the net. 1-1 was a fair reflection of the game over all and to be fair Foresters looked more menacing but could not covert the chances. The half ended 1-1.
The second half saw the match fairly evenly contested but TEB were more resolute and solid in defence and their mistakes were few if any. While the match looked to be going nowhere a loose ball on the edge of the Foresters penalty area found the waiting boot of a TEB player who took the chance well. 2-1 up and despite more efforts Foresters failed to find the net again.
TEB were great opposition but we should not have been scared of them. Had our chances have gone in we would have walked away with 3 or 4 in the bag. They were strong in defence and quick to attack, we sometimes struggled to be marking the right people without being pulled out of shape. But over all we should be proud of our achievement. The scoreline was always going to be close.
Well Played boys!
