U10's into the Semi's
Foresters 5 vs. Orpington Rovers 0
After a week of snow and ice, it was decided to book the 3G Astro pitch at Mascalls School for the eagerly awaited cup match against credible opposition. Orpington Rovers are in our Tandridge B division and we are yet to play them in the league due, ironically to poor weather!
As both sides had not used the 3G surface before there was no tactical advantages.
Foresters started brighter than the opposition and managed to keep them hemmed in at their end. As always the slick pass move game eluded them early on so opportunities were not as forth coming as we would have hoped. However and hard inbound shot from Foresters was merely parried by the Rovers keeper and Luke needed no further invite to follow on. With a goal to the good Foresters settled down and soon enough Luke found the net again for 2-0. After a heavy period of attacking the ball broke clear and ahead for Josh to run on with only the keeper to beat. He kept a cool head and slotted in for his first and the teams 3rd. Despite their efforts Sollie and Joe managed to thwart any attacking ambitions for Rovers and this left Kieran kicking laces. The half ended 3-0
In the 2nd half Rovers were far brighter and they marked their intentions early on but still found no real way through a rampant Sollie and a steady Joe. When they did manage to throw them they still had a rock steady Kieran to beat and he was not going to give in easily. Kieran had a number of saves and clearances to make and did so in great style and in an assured way. Much of the Foresters attck would start from Sollie or Joe, who both had superb games to day. Foresters pushed on and a lively Luke again found the net although I am sure Razor will try and claim it as he did have the last touch before crossing the line – smacks of last week! Late on Josh had a great run, beating several Rovers players before wrong footing the keeper only to see his effort hit the post. Minutes later a well taken Liam corner found a sweet spot on Josh’s head but the effort was just a tad wide. To end the day Josh again latched on to a loose ball and his effort had beaten the Rovers keeper however Liam may claim the goal as he made the final touch over the line – just like Razors and just like last week – again!
This was a great team effort on a new surface unknown to them. Sollie played a blinder today, as did everyone else. A great cup win and one which takes us to the Semis now!! Well done Foresters!
