Foresters beat top table Ten Em Bee

22 Feb 2009

Hard fought battle but 2 points are in the bag!

Tandridge League Div B Foresters 2 vs. Ten Em Bee 1

What a difference another week makes! After struggling to keep Orpington at bay last week Foresters U10 played out of their skins this week!

As early as the first few minutes Foresters marked their intentions with some great movement and soon enough a great ball found Liam who managed to kick the ball down and the bounce took it away from the keeper. Not safe with a 1-0 lead Foresters continued to attack the Ten Em Bee goal and in fairness we should have had 2 or 3 more. However a goal mouth scramble left a loose ball heading towards a thankful Luke who needed no other invite and slotted the ball in for 2-0. The half ended that way.

Foresters started brightly but stood off too much which allowed Ten Em Bee a chance to play. Things became tougher for Foresters as they worked their way back in. After some pressure Ten Em Bee broke and managed to score a well worked goal. Foresters needed to re-group and they did, working harder than they ever had they managed to keep Ten Em Bee at bay. With only minutes to play another break saw Ten Em Bee one on one with Kieran the Foresters keeper but Kieran had other ideas and made a magnificent save that then went from defence to attack where Miller nearly slotted home.

Despite the physical nature of both teams the referee, Scott Turner, also had a great game and allowed flow to play whenever he could. This was tough encounter and Foresters had to play hard for the whole 50 minutes. It is quite fitting to know that our guests had not lost all season! Welcome to Foresters FC!

Well played boys!

Team: K Hounsell, J Brisley, S Cook, J Smith, L Edwards, L Eldridge, M Grice, J Finch
