goal of the season???
Another week and another different game! After beating Junior Sport at home 8-1 it was a stark contrast for this match. Foresters were without their trusty right back; Sollie, who was injured. Luke was back although a bit under the weather. Dean was drafted in to help out on the pitch as needed.
The match started brightly enough and to be fair Junior Sport rarely had much hope of converting chances thanks to a tight defensive line of Joe and Miller. However Luke, Josh and Liam failed to place their mark on the game and were all too often caught ball watching. Never really making an attempt to get to the ball first and failed to close down dangerous possession. The movement of the ball through the team was awkward and clunky and they really failed to liven up the proceedings with quality pass and move style that we know we have. A slick ball found Razor, who after breaking through the defensive line, slotted a great ball home. The half ended with us 1-0 up.
The second half saw Foresters finally use their passing game to better effect although they were really not firing properly. A well worked passing move saw the ball drop back across the edge of the box where Liam duly slotted the ball home to 2-0. Another fine pass and move saw Josh run on 1 on 1 with the keeper and managed to get a toe on it for 3-0. The 4th goal was quite possibly goal of the season. The Keeper had come out of his area to clear the ball which he did, it dropped from height just over the half way line. Luke then noted the fact that the keeper was well of his line and volleyed the ball high, over the keeper and into the net for 4-0. It was a superbly taken shot by Luke who showed maturity beyond his years to stay composed, accurately volley the ball back, and to have enough to beat the keeper but not go over the bar. Late on Razor worked extremely hard to get passed a defender and round the keeper, but all the hard work was undone when he shot agonisingly wide.
The second half performance was far better than the first but still no where near the team’s potential. Well played boys!
