TWFC Mustangs 2 – 0 Otford Youth
At last, a playable Hawkenbury and a perfect day for football!
Mustangs ground out a win against a well disciplined and organized Otford side. Our visitors played a tight game and were looking to play us on the break.
After 2 minutes, Liam struck with a superb lob/cross/shot from distance that sailed in under the cross bar. However, despite some great runs and crosses from Alfie and interlinking play between midfield and attack, we could not seemt o score. Until the stroke of half time, when Alfie floated in yet another excellent corner which Jack headed powerfully home.
Mustangs created a number of chances in the 2nd half and when Jack was through on goal we expected a 3rd. Alas, not today.
With a number of players carrying injuries, or recovering from various bugs & colds, Coach made a number of changes to keep these players fit and healthy for next week. This did disrupt our rhythm but the game was won by half time.
Well done to all, a decent performance and we could have won by more. With results working in our favour, Mustangs stay top of the division with a 6 point lead and game in hand.
I would also like to thank our referee Richard Higgins (who plays for Foresters U15s) for his time and effort today.
