2 teams, 2 League Winners!
Foresters FC U10 Tandridge League Teams Season 08-09 round up for U10 B Division TeamWith the last seasons Mustangs winning the south division they were lifted 3 divisions to U10 B division. Their opening game versus Battersea at home was a rude awakening to the toughness that was to follow. 2-0 down within 15 minutes was not a great start but an inspired Miller Grice put paid to any early intentions from Battersea and we won 3-2. We were off! Other matches obviously followed with a great mauling of Hamsey A away, an emphatic if not ill tempered thrashing of Junior Sports at home, along with other fine wins against Angels away and Ten Em Bee and Whyteleafe all at home. The theme was our invincible home form. On the road we faired well but went down to Ten Em Bee in a tight game we could have easily won and a silly loss to Battersea away and Whyteleafe only a week after beating them 3-0 at home. Our season finally ended when we put Angels to the sword again at home. Luke “took one for the team” in this game and fractured his wrist but nothing dampened the team spirit. We have not lost at home for 2 seasons and have only lost 3 matches in 2 seasons. This is good, this is incredible and it shows how well each and every player has performed over the course of the two seasons. After some deliberation the Tandridge League Committee awarded the championship to Foresters FC on the strength that we had a better head to head against Ten Em Bee. This was the icing on the cake for this season as we gained back to back League Championships. The team also picked up Young Team of the Year award and at the time of writing this report have been runners up in one tournament and winners in another.
Season 08-09 round up for U10 South Central TeamThis season a 2nd Foresters side was entered into the Tandridge U10 South Central Division. The Mustangs were formed during the summer months with a mix of players from within Foresters and from other clubs. They had a tough act to follow with the previous Mustangs winning the U9 South division the previous season.
Our season got off to a flying start with an away match at Darwin where we won 6 – 1. That was followed by a tough encounter in Catford where we again came away 6 -1 winners against Beckenham Youth. Wins against Tonbridge Angels and Otford followed, where Mustangs were battling for top spot wih Barnet Wood. As the season progressed, our powerful running and defending meant that teams found it incredibly difficult to score against us. 21 games played (25 mins each way), with 79 goals score and only 9 conceded, Mustangs were not beaten in the league. A superb performance from another talented and determined Foresters side.
Mustangs also enjoyed a good run in the League Shield, beating Warlingham Colts (Division B) 4 -1 at Hawkenbury, Chipstead 1 – 0 (Division B) at Chipstead. We were knocked out by Whyteleafe (Division B) losing the penalty shoot out. This match above all others showed the spirit within the Mustangs. A very strong Whyteleafe side were held to 0 – 0 after extra time. All the team played superb football that day and were a credit to the club.
At the time of writing this Mustangs one the Ditton Tournament beating the other Foresters U10 team 1-0 in a tightly fought final.
