Foresters U11 Final

Cardinals Lift the Cup !

Tunbridge Wells Foresters Cardinals met Under 11-Division A rivals Broad Oak
& Horam Bulldogs in the CDJFL Knockout Cup Final on Sunday 29th March at
Crowborough Community Stadium.  The league had arranged a splendid occasion
with a full size pitch, player announcements, a programme and four
officials! Broad Oak opened well and passed the ball confidently while
Foresters came to terms with the occasion and the big pitch. The first half
was goalless despite the flying Jamie being adjudged to have fouled a
defender in the act of scoring – hotly disputed by JR himself ! Foresters
had settled and started to impose themselves at the end of the half.

In the second half Foresters had the better of possession and territorial
advantage. A number of opportunities were created and Scott forced a flying
save from the Broad Oak keeper. Deep into the second half and with
substitutes being readied for extra-time,  Foresters put together their best
attacking move of the game. Slick passing through midfield found Max who
finished off with a thundering 20 yard strike in the 59thminute, celebrated
with a stylish ‘flypast’.  The attacking continued with Foresters again
coming close in the dying seconds of the game before the ref blew for full
time. A deserved 1-0 win for The Cardinals who lifted the cup presented by
CDJFL league President Peter Perrett to rapturous applause from the
travelling Foresters fan club.
