UEFA A Licence holder Gary Stevens coaches the U9 squad

14 Mar 2006

It was a cold but dry morning at Bayham where I had the pleasure of working with 26 players, split into 2 groups of 13, from Jason Atkinson’s Under 9 year group.

Everyone was on time for both the 10am and the 11am sessions, had remembered to bring their water bottle and had shin pads. What a professional group of players!

We had a good warm up with every player working with his own football before moving onto some dribbling skills, passing and running with the ball. We had a short drinks break and then continued with the emphasis on weight and accuracy of pass and also lifting our heads to see what was around us as we dribbled and ran with the ball. We also spent some time working on the lofted pass but with heavy conditions this was demanding on all the players.

The session ended with a good warm down before departing. My thanks to all parents who brought their children along and my congratulations, for their hard work and application on the morning, goes to the following boys and girls who attended:

Alex Exall, Bradley Pearson, Christian Kent, Chris Hutchins, Daniel Colbran, Michael Heffenden, Oliver Shoosmith, Oliver Vidler, Oliver Whitaker, Reece Hunt, Robbie Bissett, Gabrielle Morris, Tom Pierce, Ahron Sorrell, Charlie Simpson, Daniel Hudson, Elliot Barton, Harriet Montgomery, Oliver Cox, Rebecca Howie, Robert Scott, Ben Kennard, Cameron Levitt, Robert Blyth, Toby Mills and Max Douch.

Good luck for the rest of the season and keep practising!

Gary Stevens
