A winning double

12 Mar 2007

Foresters v Chipstead

FORESTERS U12    4        CHIPSTEAD        3

Stedman 12, 18                7, 30, 37

Wakeman 17

Mackenzie 34

An away double header to Chipstead, and only 11 players available (which meant we had to play stand in goalies – special mention must be made of Micky Skinner’s save where he tipped a powerful shot over the bar). This was the first of 2 matches where Foresters fought back to win after falling behind.

Chipstead took the lead after 7 minutes, but 3 goals in six minutes from Alex Stedman (2) and Jack Wakeman saw us go in at half time 3-1 up.

The second half saw 3 more goals in seven minutes and Foresters held on for a hard fought win.

Performance Cup: Alex Stedman      Man of the Match: Jack Matthews

CHIPSTEAD        1        FORESTERS U12    2

20                                    Mackenzie 22, 34

Yet again Chipstead scored first - with a Beckham like free kick - but 2 goals from Fraser MacKenzie meant that Foresters earned 4 points out of 4 (it’s only 2 points for a win in the Tandridge League).

By the end we had two players carrying injuries but determination and tremendous effort marked both games. This means we have now won 4 out of the last 5 matches and have shown that we can more than hold our own in this league.

Performance Cup:  Lewis Salter      Man of the Match: Fraser Mackenzie
