Whitehorse v Foresters U12

3 Apr 2007

No whitewash for Whitehorse

WHITEHORSE WANDERERS    2     FORESTERS U12    0

32, 39

Sunday’s “awayday” was in Croydon at the home of Whitehorse Wanderers. A strong wind and the Whitehorse tactic of playing every ball at a height of at least 20 feet made it difficult to play our normal game. Some excellent defending and tackling, especially from Matt Miles and Mickey Skinner saw us go in 0-0 at half time.

The second half again saw few chances and with the matches reduced to 20 minutes each way it looked as if we were heading for a goalless draw. Two goals in the final 7 minutes led to a result that didn’t reflect the balance of play in the game.

FORESTERS U12        2        WHITEHORSE WANDERERS    1

T Baitup 21                              12

Wakeman 25

Yet again our opponents scored first in a match, but determined performances (notably from Matt Miles and David Bennett) made sure this was their only goal.

By now we had adapted to the conditions and our first goal was the result of a classic passing move involving four players and finishing with a typical Tom Baitup strike.Having set up that goal, Jack Wakeman scored his own 4 minutes later to ensure we came away with 2 points to show for our efforts. We now have 4 matches left after the Easter break and the chance to move into the top half of the table.

Performance Cup:   David Bennett
