Some times the performance is as important as the result
Foresters 0 vs. Hamsey District 2
I have just watched dancing on ice and listened to the hideous bald one slating one of the skaters, who replied.........
‘Its not always about being the best, it’s about trying your best’
We all love to win in sport, as boys get older winning becomes more and more important, to players and coaches alike. In losing sometimes we overlook the good things, just because we lost. Our team looked despondent coming off the pitch today, they gave everything and wanted to win so badly. They should have been smiling after the performance they put in. Our team really tried their best today.
We faced top of the league Hamsey. Harsh words were said in training on Thursday and the boys responded and were back to their best. We played open flowing football with several moves linking six or seven passes together, it was great to watch. We dominated the game from start to finish. But sport is cruel, Hamsey had a couple of attacks, scored from a goal mouth scramble early in the first half, and a penalty late in the second half.
Still with-out Captain Archie Carey (broken collar bone) James Beeson stepped in at centre back and was excellent alongside George Harbour who was also strong and controlled in his performance. James is fast becoming our utility player, able to play anywhere with out complaint and always puts in a strong performance. Both Ashley and Jordan were very strong in the tackle and Oliver was good on the ball and inventive going forward.
Next we face a difficult cup quarter-final away from home, but if the boys perform as we did today I believe we will win.
