Foresters v Oxted

12 Mar 2007

A hard fought draw

FORESTERS U13    2        OXTED    2

Foresters played Oxted and district at home on Sunday and seemed to get off to a great start when a free kick was awarded which converted into a one goal lead for Foresters when Adam Bunyan scrambled the ball home to make his eighteenth goal of the season. Oxted’s heads did not go down however and they looked very dangerous at times with their quick counter attacks, but goalkeeper Alex Kibbey was on fine form and seemed to save everything that Oxted threw at him with some brave saves to keep Foresters in the driving seat at halftime.

But in the first few minutes of the second half, Foresters concentration seemed to lapse and disaster struck when the visitors scored two goals in four minutes to go 2-1 in the lead. Both teams seemed determined to get a result from the game and just when it looked as Oxted had done it again,

Jordan Thomas stepped up and took a free kick from 20 yards out and lobbed it over the keeper to draw level 2-2.

A good comeback for the Foresters youngsters, who meet Balham Blazers next week.
