Spartak Draw at Selsdon

Last minute equaliser denies Spartak

Sunday 11th October Under 9's v Selsdon Junior FC The Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 9’s Spartak Tandridge team played away to Selsdon Juniors. The game ended in 3-3 draw. Foresters started the match looking very nervous but soon found their feet and started playing some good passing football and opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a goal from Fraser Abbott. Foresters now began to dominate the possession and added to the scoreline in the 10th minute when Joseph Pickett headed home following a well flighted corner from Robert Lawrence. The midfielders were playing well and Ollie Plunkett, Matt Horlock, Erik Anderberg and Fraser Abbott gave their opponents no time to settle and won virtually every challenge. The boys extended their lead when Johnny Phillips set up Fraser Abbott who scored with a left foot volley from just outside the box which the goalkeeper couldn’t hold. In the second half the boys continued to pass the ball around and they continued to create chances but they could not beat the Selsdon goalkeeper who made several good saves. As Selsdon began to get back into the game they were thwarted by two superb saves from Luca Caria and also some solid defending by Josh Williams, Luke Credland and Robert Lawrence. However Selsdon reduced the arrears with ten minutes to go, and this changed the flow of the game. The boys continued to battle well and were still in control of the game but were beginning to tire. Unfortunately the boys could not hold on to their lead and Selsdon scored two goals in the last three minutes to earn an unlikely draw. Well done to all the boys on the way they played today and also for playing some fantastic football during the course of the game. Their performance today shows how far they have come since their last visit to Selsdon and they should all be very proud of their efforts today.
