Spartak win in the rain
Sunday 22nd November Under 9's Spartak v Glebe Lions
The Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 9’s Tandridge Spartak team played at home this weekend against Glebe Lions. The game ended in a 5-1 victory for the home side.
Foresters were the first to settle in difficult blustery conditions and enjoyed all of the early possession and opened the scoring with a well taken goal by Ollie Plunkett following cross from Matthew Horlock. Spartak doubled their lead when Matthew Horlock scored following a through ball from Johnny Phillips. Spartak were now playing some good football but missed several good opportunities to extend their lead, however Johnny Phillips scored with a shot on the turn following a long throw in from Joseph Pickett so at half-time the scoreline was 3-0 to Spartak.
In the second half with the rain becaming torrential Spartak scored almost immediately when following a through ball Matthew Horlock squared for Joseph Pickett to roll the ball into the empty net. Robert Lawrence then struck the post following a pass from Fraser Abbott. Johnny Phillips added the fifth goal after some good play from Joseph Pickett. Once again there was another solid display from the defence of Luke Credland, Josh Williams and Robert Lawrence with Luca Caria once again making a tremendous save to turn a goal bond effort onto a post. Josh Williams almost scored that elusive goal but a glebe defender made a last ditch goal line clearance. Just as the defence looked like it would keep a well earned clean sheet Glebe grabbed a consolation goal. The boys one again put in a good performance and played some excellent football in what were very difficult conditions. Thank you to everybody who braved the weather to watch the game, hope you all dry out soon.
The squad for the match was as follows:-
L.Caira, L.Credland, F.Abbott, M.Horlock, O.Plunkett, J.Phillips, J.Pickett, ,R.Lawrence and J.Williams.
