The famous children's author Dan Freedman who has written a series of books visited Tunbridge Wells Foresters Bayham Ground.

The famous children's author Dan Freedman who has written a series of books visited Tunbridge Wells Foresters Bayham Ground meeting 100’s of our development & mini football squad players. Dan spoke about his travels with the England team and his experiences interviewed some of the world greatest players in football along with the fictional character "Jamie Johnson -JJ". His books have been so successful the BBC has produced a 3 part pilot series for Children's BBC. They have now signed up for a full series to be televised in the New Year.

The clubs joint chair Stuart newman said ‘’As a football club we wanted to promote educational values encouraging reading as well as coaching, so we purchasing all our younger players a book, that Dan Freedman kindly autographed spending hours talking and really inspiring our players’’

The clubs other joint chair Julian Daddy added ‘We as a club wanted to be involved in developing the whole child not just their football as this club wanted to offer social and educational values as well as football development’’

Noel Bradbury assistant head teacher at St Gregory’s School said ‘’ "Tunbridge Wells is very fortunate to have a local grassroots football club who shares the same ethos as our school; whereby children's passion for football can be fostered to promote educational values in our young people and was incredibly proud when TW Foresters FC Stuart Newman approached both myself and the school stating how he and the club committee recognise the educational and footballing impact that "St Gregory's has had on both boys and girls of the football academy and what Dan Freedman had done for the school’’.

Watch out for ‘JJ’ over Xmas as the BBC will be showing the television serious of his footballing adventures, and finally our massive thanks to Dan for travelling down to meet us and making the day happen.
