The famous children's author Dan Freedman who has written a series of books aimed at 6-14 year olds and been referred to as the "Harry Potter of Football" and will be visiting TW Foresters FC to meet all our players on the 26 November 2016 from 09:30 hrs @ Bayham Sports Pitches

As a youngster Dan dreamt of becoming a professional footballer, however he developed a passion for writing and became the lead reporter for the FA. He has travelled to 2 world cups with the England team and interviewed some of the world greatest names in football Messi, Ronaldo, Alex Ferguson to name a few. He then turned his skills to creative writing and written a series of books around a fictional character "Jamie Johnson -JJ". The books have been so successful the BBC written a 3 part pilot series for Children's BBC. They have now signed up for a full series to be televised in the New Year.

As a football club we also wanted to promote educational values encouraging reading we will be purchasing all our younger players a book, with the author Dan Freedman visiting Bayham on Saturday 26 November to sign books and meet the players and parents along with anyone interested in meeting Dan.

We as a club wanted to be involved in developing the whole child not just their football as this club offers social and educational values as well as football development.

This initiative is in conjunction with local school St Gregory's - Noel Bradbury Assistant Head Teacher said "Tunbridge Wells is very fortunate to have a local grassroots football club who shares the same ethos as valued by St Gregory's Catholic School; whereby children's passion for football can be fostered to promote educational values in our young people. “Using Football as a Vehicle for Learning" is the schools vision within the football academy and I felt incredibly proud when the joint chairman's of TW Foresters FC Stuart Newman & Julian Daddy approached both myself and the school stating how he and the club committee recognise the educational and footballing impact that "St Gregory's ACE Football Academy" has had on both boys and girls of the academy.

For a grassroots football club to want to promote educational values alongside the development of football within their club is amazing and is a testament to the club’s commitment and vision to go beyond the expected norm of a local football club. Encouraging a passion and enjoyment for reading in our young people is crucial for pupils to accessing the curriculum. St Gregory's school welcomes and supports any community strategy to support the enjoyment of reading in our young people.
