U14's Sussex Youth boys looking good for the new season

The SYL U14's finished there preseason schedule with third win in a row with a tough game against last seasons high flying Vinters FC from the Maidstone & District premier league. After a nervous start against a strong and technically astute team, we found our rhythm with Harry Willis scoring with a flying header from a corner. We lost our skipper George Parmer shortly afterwards coming off with a nasty injury with Vinters equalising just before the end of the half with both teams going into the interval looking confident.

The lads came out into second half with Ollie Sugden playing well & always putting pressure on there back line with Jamie Blundell sitting into the defence brilliantly before Patrick Mullens found his shooting boots for the second week running with another terrific 25 yard screamer putting us 2-1up. With Cyrus playing his best game in a red shirt we slowly took control of the game with Ollie winning us a penalty before Jack tucking away a rebound after an initial save by there keeper. A good team performance that put smiles on the lads faces, the parents & supporters along with the coaches. Overall a good team performance.

Vinters have kindly invited us back for a re-match and we look forward to a trip over to Maidstone during the season.

In the meantime the season starts on Sunday with our opening fixture away to Shoreham & Adur FC #excitingtimes
