A great game of football if you happened to be neutral. Throughly entertaining from start to finish. The awful weather conditions of wind and rain certainly contributed to the match.

Last season LG Pumas managed to win from been two goals down therefore both teams were conscious that the match would go until the final whistle.

RU started off at their customary fast pace which is now standard for the team. They look to press the opposition in the final third, either asking them to try and play out or play long. After five minutes Pumas gave up the ball allowing the No 10 to squeeze a soft shot off that managed to go under the goalkeeper. Very unfortunate from Puma's point of view.

For the next 20 or so minutes RU continued to dominate possession, and control the ball in Puma's half. With wind behind them RU unfortunately missed several chances. The set pieces, particular were accurate but couldn't be converted.

On 22 minutes RU went further ahead when a very well aimed corner was headed in by the left midfielder. Nothing that they didn't deserve.
The remaining minutes of the first half continued in a similar fashion.

As the second half began, playing with the wind against them, RU knew that there was going to be an onslaught from Pumas, and true to form Pumas scored from a well taken corner headed in by their forward. 1-2

RU went 3-1 up with another superbly delivered corner. The play then was mostly concentrated in RU's half with Pumas using the tail wind to their advantage and they came back to 3-2.

Rangers were not going to bow at this stage, and with 20 minutes to a stunning 25 yard shot from one of the midfielders made it 4-2. Pumas remained obdurate and committed and scored another one from a corner to make it 4-3 with 12 minutes to go. It was certainly back and forth.

Its fair to say that it wasn't one way traffic in the last quarter of the game, as RU attempted to carve out chances, but Pumas with the knowledge that one strike could salvage something from the gripping game continued to press.

With 5 minutes to go RU's goalkeeper made a magnificent diving save to push a fierce shot around the post: Game saver!

The relief when the final whistle was very clear. Certainly RU had more of the possession and should have made the most of their chances but credit to Pumas.

The match was played in great spirit and respect, with 13 + players going to the same school. Bragging rights on Monday!
