It was a proud moment for the club and the town, as Foresters Ladies who were pulled out of the hat at The FA HQ a few weeks ago for the preliminary first round of the SSE Women's FA Cup travelled made the long journey along the M25 to play Milford & Witley.
Foresters started the game in control, on the front foot controlling the pace of the game in the early stages but struggled to break down a stubborn Milford & Witley defence.
Foresters should have been two or three up in the first twenty minutes but squandered a couple of good chances early on.
Foresters found the break just before half time with in form forward Sara Walker latching onto a spilled cross from the opposition goalkeeper and she calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
At the start of the second half Foresters started to find their rhythm, keeping hold of the ball and dominating possession. It wasn’t long before they found themselves 2-0 up as Maisie Gibb latched onto a through ball and she superbly bent the ball into the left corner of the goal.
New signing Nia Lewis scored on her debut with a powerful driven shot across the keeper and provided an assist for Karli Povey who had a simple tap in from only a few yards away.
Foresters ended the second half on the front foot and displayed some neat, tidy one touch football in the midfield area which resulted in Rona Wignall being sent through on goal and she dribbled around the keeper to make it 5.
Late on in the game, Milford & Witley grabbed a consolation goal with a 25-yard strike that sailed in the top right corner leaving the keeper no chance.
Tunbridge Wells will host Phoenix Sports on the 22nd of September in the First Round Qualifying Round.
