TW Foresters Ladies travelled down to the south coast for the first league fixture of the season and faced a well organised Lancing Ladies side.

Foresters started the game on the back foot as Lancing pressed high up into the Foresters half which caused the visiting team to make a few mistakes early on.
Lancing Ladies found the break midway through the first half as a free kick on the far-right hand side was taken quickly and the ball looped over the keeper into the right corner.
The first half didn’t get much better as Lancing found a second after confusion set in on the pitch as a Foresters thought the referee had stopped the game for a head injury but there was no whistle so Lancing took advantage and their forward slotted the ball into the left corner after the initial shot was saved by the keeper.
Foresters started the second half much brighter and it wasn’t long before they found themselves back into the game which a much-needed goal. Nia Lewis sent a cross into the box from the right hand side which ricocheted off a defender inside in the box and the ball was spilled into the goal by the Lancing keeper.
With Foresters now in control, they started to push for an equaliser and in form Rona Wignall found herself on scoresheet once again. Nia Lewis dribbled down to the right hand byline and crossed a perfectly weighted ball across goal that Rona latched onto and slotted the ball past the Lancing keeper.
Foresters were unlucky not to take all three points as they squandered a few more chances towards the end but will feel that a point away from home was a fair result.
