Hotly fought home derby against Langton Green with 3 hard fought points for TWF

After 4 years playing in the Sussex Youth League our U18’s Colts returned back to the Crowborough & District League with our opening day fixture against local rivals Langton Green. In a fiercely contested game played very competitively both teams had chances to open the scoring with LG coming close on a couple of occasions.

The first half ended goalless with both teams having put in mature performances with the second half starting with the same tempo and again both teams pressing each other attempting to dominate the middle of the park. Foresters started to get the upper hand as the game progressed beginning to control the game as a change in formation of 5 in the centre beginning to pay dividends.

A fantastic move with George P playing the ball from the back found Koray who pushed onto LG midfield playing a beautiful ball through that totally split there defence with Rob beating the off side trap running into the box smashing a powerful left foot shot into the goal from close range.

LG pushed on looking for an equaliser leaving spaces at the back allowing Foresters to start dominating the game finding more space . Both teams had other chances but as Foresters started to dominate Ethan smashed in a 20 yard shoot from outside the box that sailed over the keeper putting us 2-0 up.

Foresters closed down the rest of the game even having chances to extend there lead closing LG out of the game. Great start of the season allowing the lads in red bragging rights at school Monday morning and one set of supporters leaving the St Greggs carpark Looking very pleased.

Great game and good start to the season and amazingly the first time the teams had played each other in over 5 years.
