Our talented Ladies make club history winning a first major trophy

It’s been an amazing season for the clubs’ ladies’ teams with the 1st XI winning he South East Counties Women’s Football League cup final last Friday.

In an entertaining game in front of a large crowd at Maidstone United Gallagher stadium Tunbridge Wells Foresters played Dartford who had already secured the Premier League division as champions. Foresters started the game in determined fashion putting the Dartford defence under pressure with some creative attacking play and had several changes in early exchange of play.

As the game progressed, we had the upper hand and midway through the first half a superb cross by skipper Kel Moran was met by Annabel Stokes who only last year played for our U16's, with their keeper blocking the initial header but was superbly met by Rona Wignal who headed Foresters into a 1-0 half time lead.

The second half continued with chances for both sides in an amazing high level of football played by both teams. Both sides had chances but even though they came close on a couple of occasions Foresters couldn’t find that 2nd goal to make the game safe.
Our defence remained resilient for the remainder of the game, with the final whistle bringing amazing scenes for the Ladies from Royal Tunbridge Wells being the deserved winners in this entertaining fixture.

Kel Moron the club captain was ecstatic after the game ‘’What a night, what an incredible squad. We fought for that win and deserved every second of glory. A season of ups and downs that saw us grow into the team we were at the final. It wasn’t just the 11 on the pitch, but those on the side too. We made it as a squad of 18 or more and we celebrated together. We would be nothing without the coaching of Scott Moron and the club management, the guidance and style of play with the want for more, always. Every piece of that day helped us win, from the coach, organised by our amazing squad, to the warmups, team talks and every piece of advice and support on and off the pitch - including our roaring fans’’.

With the 2nd team also reaching a cup final and securing promotion its been a great season for our two senior woman teams AKA #Fozzies
