Visage continued to shine in the Tandridge League, with a fantastic team performance against a strong and determined Bromley, who remained a threat to the final whistle.
The first half was played at lightening pace, with both teams giving their all on yet another beautiful Autumnal day at Bayham. Individually, the teams looked very well matched, but it was Forrester's passing, movement and all round team work that negated the threat of a Bromley forward line who always looked like they would score if they were given the chance. But in the first half they simply weren't allowed sight of goal. Charlie expertly swept away every ball that threatened his area. Joe was thoughtful in defence and distribution, allowing Foresters' to simply pass around their opponents, releasing Jude down the flanks to cross in to the danger area again and again. Supported by George, Freddie and Zak's relentless running and drive, this was a game plan that eventually told. Lucas twice made no mistake from close range with clinical finishing, and with Jude's industry and skill rewarded with another two, Visage at face value looked in control.
However, this was a strong Bromley team and even though they were behind, there remained the nagging doubt that a quick goal or two might cause nerves to set in. And so it proved in the second half, as powerful running and finishing resulted in three goals in six minutes and all of a sudden, they were back in it. Visage though regrouped, regained their composure and started to pass and move again, and after a series of outstanding saves and blocks on the line by the Bromley keeper and defence, an excellent long range shot from Jude finished the scoring for the day.
This was an outstanding performance from a team who are improving weekly and importantly, listening to their coaches, allowing them to be more than a match for opponents with more physical presence and power. And enjoying it at the same time. Well done to all!
