A 1-8 loss on the opening day of the season was a let down to the pre-season build up, but some good positives to take out of the game. Firstly and foremost, our summer training certainly has paid off in terms of fitness. Although we were chasing the ball more than the opposition, we were definitely fitter than them as the game went on. Apart from a beautiful run and conversion by Amelie Jacques in the second half, we weren't able to convert our chances. But the opposition did, eight times. Everybody worked hard individually, but our failing was lack of team work and too often competing for the ball on the edge of our penalty area rather than in the middle of the pitch. Some rich lessons to take into the next match.
