Foresters Ladies score three well worked goals in first half to beat Bexhill United FC 4-1.

Foresters started the game strongly and looked to keep the hold of the ball in the opening few minutes. The first chance of the game fell to Becky Mackley who was found from a cross on the left hand side but the ball was fired well wide.

It wasn’t long though before Foresters broke the deadlock. Foresters kept hold of the ball in the midfield and Karli Povey was found in small pocket of space in front of the defence and threaded a ball into the path of Mackley who fired a shot over the keeper into the top right hand corner.

Foresters kept pushing and really controlled the tempo of the game and it wasn’t long before they found themselves two up. A wide shot from Foresters had gone out for a goal kick and the Bexhill keeper mis-hit the restart and the ball fell to Karli Povey twenty yards out and she struck a fantastic first time shot into roof of the net.

With the half coming to a close and the majority of possession being held by Foresters they soon created another chance. A short goal kick played out by Foresters followed by a few small intricate passes down the left side lead to Lauryn Underhill netting a third. Rona Wignall lofted the ball over the opposition right back and Underhill with the outside of her foot, fired the ball into the right hand corner leaving the keeper with no chance.

Foresters started the second half slowly and it wasn’t long before Bexhill were back in the game. A long shot was struck by the opposition midfielder which was spilled by Fothergill into the path of an oncoming attacker who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Bexhill created more chances as the second half went on and were unlucky when they saw a long range effort hit the post.

Foresters were granted a bit of good fortune late in the second half as a long range effort was deflected by a Bexhill defender which took the ball past their keeper into the bottom left corner to make it 4-1.

With the game coming to a close both teams created a few more chances but after a fantastic first half Foresters saw the game out and continued their fantastic run of form.
